Recently, institutions such as the Competitiveness Think Tank released the "China County Development Monitoring Report 2023," revealing lists such as the "Top 100 Counties and Cities in China for Comprehensive Competitiveness in 2023." Pinghu ranks 35th on this list, highlighting the high-quality development level of Pinghu county.

It is reported that the report has established a monitoring and evaluation indicator system covering aspects such as economic strength, technological innovation, green development, people's well-being, and county governance. Using data publicly available for 2022 from various counties, the report conducted a comparative analysis and verification, completing the monitoring and evaluation of China's county development.

Located in the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta, Pinghu is situated at the intersection of the diagonals of the diamond formed by the four major cities of "Shanghai, Hangzhou, Suzhou, and Ningbo." It borders Shanghai to the north and is adjacent to Hangzhou Bay in the south. In 2022, the city achieved a gross domestic product (GDP) of 95.96 billion yuan, total fiscal revenue of 13.33 billion yuan, general public budget revenue of 8.07 billion yuan, and per capita disposable income for urban and rural residents reaching 74,287 yuan and 46,573 yuan, respectively. In recent years, Pinghu has focused on creating an ecologically livable pastoral green city, adhering to the principle of "ecological priority" and building a "park city" with a built-up area of 50.4 square kilometers. Comprehensive integration of urban and rural development, accelerated rural revitalization, and being designated as one of the first pilot areas in Zhejiang to narrow regional disparities in the construction of a common prosperity demonstration zone demonstrate Pinghu's strength. It has also been recognized with several titles, including Zhejiang Province's first batch of advanced cities in beautiful rural construction, a demonstration city for beautiful rural areas in the new era, and a demonstration city for comprehensive tourism in Zhejiang Province. The strength of coordinating urban and rural development is continuously increasing, and the happiness of urban and rural residents is significantly improving.
