Great effort has been made to perfect the three-tie public health service network of Pinghu.It boosts 221 medical units,20 of which are municipal or township level and 149 are community medical service stations.In 1996,Pinghu achieved the standard of provincial sanitary city and in 1999 it became the provincial level advanced county(city)for promoting Traditional Chinese Medical work in the countryside.It was awarded the national advanced city of teeth disease prevention in 2001 and the advanced city of tap water popularization in the countryside in 2002.

Three systems,namely,disease prevention and control,sanitary supervision and medical treatment and cure,are in proper coordination,which enhanced the ability to monitor and pre-warm and to deal with the outburst of public health accidents.At present,Pinghu is making huge effort in developing into a public health strong city.It aims to realize integrated management of medical units of township and village level and take provincial lead or even national lead in terms of cooperative health insurance between urban and rural citizens,management of medical files of the citizens and IT construction in medical service.All major hospitals in Pinghu now offer green-card service to cater foreign friends.
