“Honorary Citizen of Pinghu” is an honorary title awarded to overseas Chinese, compatriots of Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan, friendly foreigners as well as Chinese outside Pinghu for their remarkable contribution to the economic development, social progress, public welfare undertakings and friendly exchange of the city.
Overseas Chinese, compatriots of Hongkong, Macao and Taiwan, friendly foreigners and Chinese outside Pinghu can be awarded the title Honorary Citizen of Pinghu on condition that they abide by Chinese laws and regulations and conform to one of the following qualifications:
1) He or she puts forward valuable suggestions on the urban & rural development plan and important technology policies in the drawing-up process, reasonably harnessing and exploiting resources and popularizing modern management, and brings out brilliant economic and social benefits after the suggestions being adopted.
2) He or she makes quite big investment for the city, or invests into projects identified as hi-tech which bring out remarkable economic and social benefits.
3) He or she actively introduces in capital, talents, advanced technology and equipments, develops new products, opens channels to the outside world, promotes foreign currency earning through export, and develops open economy. And remarkable benefits are brought out through his or her efforts.
4) He or she is keen on promoting social & public welfare undertakings of Pinghu, which include science and technology, education, culture and sports and sanitation as well as charity causes.
5) He or she actively promotes the city’s friendly exchange and cooperation with the outside world, plays an important role in establishing and developing friendly relationship between Pinghu and other cities, and in improving cooperation and exchange in fields such as economy and social undertakings, and makes outstanding contribution. He or she makes outstanding contribution in other fields not included above.
