Pinghu Agricultural Economic Development Zone was established in 2017, combined with Guangchen Town, total planned area 55.84 square kilometers and core area 18.1 square kilometers (27,000 acres). It is the first agricultural economic development zone in Zhejiang Province. Located in Pinghu Guangchen Town, bordered Shanghai Jinshan Langxia Town, the development zone possess superior regional location,perfect infrastructure and solid agricultural industry foundation.

The Agricultural Development Zone is committed to the construction of “Agricultural Silicon Valley and Agricultural Innovation Highlands”in the Yangtze River Delta, focusing on the introduction of modern agricultural industry projects, headquarters-type whole industrial chain service projects, integrative development projects for the first,second and third industry, agricultural internationalization cooperation projects, high-level agricultural talents project, agricultural and tourism integration projects, strive to create a high-quality rural revitalization demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta.

The location of Agricultural Development Zone , Guangchen Town, has a long history and a prosperous culture. During the Tang Dynasty, Guangchen town had become a market town for coastal trade of ancient sea salt, and prosperously flourished by the time of the Song and Yuan Dynasty, enjoyed the reputation of “Dongxiang 18 towns , Guangchen first town ”since ancient times, it was also the birthplace of Pinghu Flower Drum Opera and Nationl Level Intangible Cultural Heritage Bozishu Folk Art. The Southern Song Dynasty painter Zhao Mengjian settled down in Guangchen after resign. There are many historical and cultural sites in the development zone such as Zhejiang Province AAA scenic area village Shantang Village, Mengjian Cultural Park and Yanxi Park etc.
